Local Perceptions of a Just Transition: a Gladstone Case Study
Queensland Government has committed to achieve a renewable energy target of 50% by 2030, and end reliance on coal-fired power by 2035. The timely and appropriate transition of displaced workforces to new employment opportunities is of key concern to the various stakeholders responsible for public administration in these communities. This study will focus on Gladstone as a case study and explore local perceptions and broader societal narratives around what constitutes a transition. The study objective is to inform social policies to provide place-based solutions that incorporate diverse voices and perspectives for transition planning.
