The Centre for Policy Futures (CPF), situated within the School of Social Science in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at The University of Queensland:

  • Delivers rigorous, policy‑relevant research through our specialised services to inform evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Builds capability across the sector by training researchers to engage more effectively and strategically with policymakers.
  • Leads a comprehensive research‑to‑policy engagement program for policymakers, industry and community in Queensland, across Australia, and throughout the Indo‑Pacific region.

Through our close affiliations with other UQ research institutes and faculties, we harness expertise in humanities and social sciences, economics, law, and business to be positioned at the intersection of rapid science and technological advancements and their implications for society, economy, politics, and the environment. We provide academic rigour and practical solutions for some of the most complex issues facing policymakers and politicians across Queensland, Australia, the Pacific and beyond.

Our interdisciplinary team brings together experts from diverse fields to partner with local, national, and international governments, industry leaders, and community organisations. Together, we analyse, evaluate, and design evidence‑informed solutions that strengthen policy development and support effective decision‑making.

We focus our work across four interconnected key areas:

Our research is aligned with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and is committed to advancing sustainable development through strategic research and training that promote economic prosperity, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and good governance for all.
