The Centre for Policy Futures (CPF), situated within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at The University of Queensland, was established to:

  • Undertake policy-relevant and rigorous research through our services
  • Strengthen UQ's capacity to improve academics' engagement with policymakers through training
  • Implement a research engagement program for policymakers in Queensland, across Australia, and the Indo-Pacific region

CPF is a focal point for UQ researchers wanting to inform the debate today, to influence the policy of tomorrow.

Through our close affiliations with other UQ research faculties, we harness expertise in humanities and social sciences, economics, law, and business to be positioned at the intersection of rapid science and technological advancements and their implications for Australian society, economy, politics, and the environment. We provide academic rigour and practical solutions for some of the most complex issues facing policymakers and politicians across Queensland, Australia, the Pacific and beyond.

Our transdisciplinary team addresses research priorities to support policy development and decision-making on a wide range of areas, most notably across our four research themes:

CPF is aligned with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is committed to advancing sustainable development through strategic research and training that promote economic prosperity, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and good governance for all.
