Triple awards spotlight rise of eco-social contracting

4 June 2026

The editors and authors of the UN-affiliated book Eco-Social Contracts for Sustainable and Just Futures: Mobilising Collective Power to Deal with the 21st Century Polycrisis has received two awards at the 2026 Nautilus Book Awards:

Gold Winner — World Cultures’ Transformational Growth & Development
Special Honors Award — Transformative Systems Vision

A third award as a winner of the International Impact Book Award (2026) in the category Public Affairs & Policy has also been announced!

These awards speak not only to the importance and urgency of eco-social contracts, but also to the strength of bringing together diverse voices, perspectives, and knowledge systems within a shared transformative framework for sustainable and just futures.

Dr Kiah Smith authored the chapter, Putting Food Justice at the Centre of an Eco-social Contract, which argues that civic food networks help reduce power inequalities and improve equitable access to healthy, affordable food.
