Charlotte Beaumont-Field, Sector Development Officer (Human Rights), QCOSS
About
Dr Kiah Smith presented findings from the first digital mapping of how Queensland civil society organisations (CSOs) contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and discussed the research with Stacey De Calmer and Charlotte Beaumont-Field.
Analysing data from 5,868 charities, this webinar highlights strong CSO engagement with health, education, and inequality, but limited focus on poverty, hunger, and environmental issues more widely. While CSOs play a vital role in advancing human rights, the report finds they rarely use the SDGs to guide or communicate their work, particularly in partnerships.
Developed by UQ's Centre for Policy Futures, the project delivers Australia’s first SDG Data Observatory to strengthen collaboration, visibility, and rights-based SDG localisation by civil society.
