About Policy 101: Understanding public policy and its making

HDR students are invited to a workshop led by the Centre for Policy Futures' Associate Professor Pedro Fidelman, where they will learn how to use their research to produce policy-relevant findings and recommendations, and better understand what public policy is and how it is made by:

  • Presenting the concepts of policy and policy-making;
  • Introducing the actors, both official and unofficial, involved in policy-making;
  • Explaining the policy process, from design to implementation and evaluation; and
  • Providing a summary of approaches to study public policy

Impact and influence

Your research may have the potential to impact both policy and practice and influence the broader community in a number of ways. Knowing how and where to communicate your research, and understanding how to do so ethically and responsibly, will ensure your research makes an impact.
