Associate Professor Pedro Fidelman appointed a lead author for the National Marine Science Committee’s White Papers

Associate Professor Pedro Fidelman has been appointed as a lead author for the National Marine Science Committee’s White Papers, contributing to Australia’s marine science agenda. Specifically, he will contribute to the White Paper Understanding Science and Society, which explores the role of science in informing policy, governance, and societal decision-making for marine and coastal sustainability.

Pedro will contribute to defining how marine science can better engage with society, ensuring that scientific knowledge is effectively integrated into decision-making processes. His expertise in environmental governance will help shape strategies for improving science-policy interfaces, strengthening collaboration between researchers, policymakers, and communities.

With over 450 contributors from diverse marine institutes across Australia, the Committee's 21 writing teams will collaborate to shape, develop, and review the key papers that will drive the future of Australian marine science and innovation.
