Researcher biography

Associate Professor Richard Robinson is an AQIRF Principal Research Fellow at the School of Business. Richard holds extensive experience and expertise in service and visitor economy workforce policy and planning, skills development, and designing and evaluating training and education programs, including with disaffected groups. He currently holds an Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowship to develop a multi-sector workforce crisis resilience and recovery strategy in partnership with Queensland Tourism Industry Council. This project involves extensive stakeholder consultations in regional communities with hybrid primary and service economies. He also completed a grant on “Careers in everyday industries: Potential benefits of increased visibility”, funded by the National Careers Institute, in 2023. It investigated occupational and industry attractiveness and career transitions. His methodological expertise is in drawing together multiple stakeholder perspectives employing numerous qualitative methods.
