Dr Jodie Miller
Visiting Research Fellow
Centre for Policy Futures
Jodie Miller is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Queenlsand. Her research area is in the field of mathematics education, in particular, the teaching and learning actions that assist young students to engage with early algebraic thinking (patterning, functions, generalisations). Her work is underpinned by the notion that to engage in mathematics deeply, students must have an understanding of the underlying structures and patterns that define mathematics. The majority of Miller’s work has been conducted with students that are at risk of marginalisation (e.g., Indigenous students, students with English as a second language, and students from low socio-economic backgrounds).
