Researcher biography
Emeritus Professor Roger Scott was J D Story Professor of Public Administration in the Department of Government, University of Queensland from 1977-1987. Subsequently he held appointments as Principal of the Canberra College of Advanced Education and then as the inaugural Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra. He returned to Queensland to serve as the Director-General of Education, Queensland State Government from1990-1994; and then as Dean of Arts and Professor of Public Management, Queensland University of Technology, from 1995-2001.
Since retiring he has held honorary professorships in History and then in Political Science at the University of Queensland. From 2007-2010 he was Project Director of the ‘Queensland Speaks’ oral history project. He was Executive Director of the TJ Ryan Foundation from its inception in 2013, retiring from the position in February 2017. His most recent publication is Research Report 54, “Phoenix? Pauline Hanson and Queensland politics”, (TJ Ryan Foundation, 2017) and he has contributed to John Menadue’s “Pearls and Irritations” on Queensland politics and on national higher education policy.
