Researcher biography

Dr Cameron Shackell is an independent researcher and advisor specialising in pricing, incentives, and signalling in regulated markets.

A central focus of his current research is alcohol and no and low alcohol (nolo) beverage markets, where he examines how pricing structures, product design, and regulatory frameworks interact as markets evolve.

He works at the intersection of economic behaviour, public policy, and communication, drawing on ideas from information economics and semiotics to develop frameworks that support clearer regulatory design and better decision-making in complex markets. His research is informed by experience in consulting and entrepreneurship, giving him a practical perspective on how regulatory and market signals operate in real-world settings.
