Introduction to Participatory Futures Scenarios for Policy and Practice
Our new hands-on short course, equips policy and research professionals with practical skills in participatory future scenario methods — a powerful, evidence-based approach to collaborative policy design and stakeholder engagement.
About Introduction to Participatory Futures Scenarios for Policy and Practice
Over two intensive days, you will:
- Build foundational knowledge in systems thinking, futures thinking and scenario planning
- Explore how participatory scenarios can bring diverse voices — including communities often absent from formal decision-making — into the policy process
- Practise co-creating future narratives using real-world tools and case studies from around the globe
- Translate collaboratively developed scenarios into polished policy outputs, including ministerial briefs and formal communications
This course directly addresses the OECD-identified skills gap in evidence-informed policymaking, with a distinctive focus on the interpersonal, relational, and communication capabilities that methodology-heavy programs often overlook.
Who should attend?
Research and policy officers in government, NGOs and the private sector who want to make better use of evidence-based future narratives in policy design and stakeholder engagement.
